Royal Wedding excitement and 8 days to go

The excitement is building with the Royal Wedding tomorrow.  It is the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I know it's a bit dorky to be excited, but I really can't wait.  I have champagne chilling in the fridge already and Pete & I will celebrate by having a real pommy dinner - Bangers and Mash! I will be glued to the TV, can't wait.

It is good to have something else to look forward to as it prevents the time to our trip dragging out.  We have 8 days to go, I have 5 working days and Pete has 6.

I was meant to go to fitness squad today, but decided a sleep in was in order.  I will go to boxing tomorrow.  I tend to get paranoid before going away that I will get sick, my ear felt a bit blocked yesterday so I am dosing up with vitamin C.  When we went to Egypt 2 years ago I got a nice little head cold just before leaving, it is so pleasant to fly for 24 hours whilst you have a cold - not!

We booked our tickets to The Hermitage on the weekend.  Thanks to a strong Aussie dollar it only cost $48 for two 2 days passes.  I am really looking forward to seeing some museums and art galleries on this trip, makes a change to some of our other trips where we have chosen the pub over paying the entrance fee of a museum.  My how we have grown up!!

Delicious Lamb Ragu

We have not cooked lamb ragu since last year. It was delicious!! We always love cooking some of our favourite meals before going away.

Had a great day today. Got a heap of shopping done. Pete got some sunglasses to take away and managed to get a 30% discount! I had a big shop at priceline, bought all of our toiletries.

Really starting to get a bit excited now! It all seems a bit surreal and I won't really feel like we are going until we take off. Until then, I will count down the days :-)

Seafood risotto & Dr Who

We have enjoyed a very relaxing Good Friday. Had some lovely hot cross buns this morning. Today we did a bit more organising for our trip. I did a pre-pack and have most things in my bag, just need to wash a few items before doing the final pack.

We charged our camera batteries and cleared the memory cards. I have written yet another list of all the things we need to buy, toiletries etc. Will head into town tomorrow to shop.

We made a lovely seafood risotto for dinner and are now sitting down watching Dr Who, a bit of an unusual occurrence, will be watching amazing race once Dr Who is over. Really look forward to it, just love the race! Gets me in the mood to travel, not long to go now, only two weeks, yay!

Final haircut!!

Just at the hairdressers getting my hair cut for the last time before going away! I have been counting down to our trip by the number of haircuts because time between haircuts always goes really quick. So glad that Easter is now upon us, really glad to have a 5 day break. Work was crazy today because we are moving to a new area of the office and we all did our final packing today. The sound of sticky tape sealing up the boxes almost drove me batty!! Looking forward to heading home to have a few glasses of wine, having a little sleep in tommorrow and eating hot cross buns in the morning :) Yay for Easter!!

9 working days to go

I am really starting to wind things up at work now but still feel like I have so much to do and so little time. I went for a run on the weekend to try and clear my head, today we have fitness squad - it is mid term break but our trainer runs one session a week to keep us going.  I normally try and motivate myself to go for at least one run each day whilst we are on our break but because of the extra things I need to do at work I have been heading in early.

We did a bit of shopping on the weekend and crossed some things off the list.  This weekend is Easter and we are super lucky this year to have a 5 day weekend because ANZAC day is right on the back of Easter - yay!
It will be good to have a bit of a break from work and do a bit of sorting things out - might try and get the cameras organised, make sure the battery's are charged etc and I think I will put some music on my iPhone.

One of the things I am most looking forward to whilst we are away is not watching the news, it will be so nice to turn on a TV and not understand the language, not to mention not seeing Australian politicians on  the screen.  It will be great to get away from reality for a while and despite travelling to see exciting new places, for me one of the best parts is just that, being able to get away from the mundane, escape the everyday routine and not be informed, just live like the world is a truly happy place!

Lists and stuff

I am getting slightly anxious with getting things finalised at work before we go away.  I know we still have over 3 weeks but with Easter in the middle I have actually only got 13 days of work left.
Had a good work out this morning and a night out at the movies last night.  Hard to keep my mind off things and I have multitudes of lists that I have compiled to help prioritise things rather than having things floating around in my head.  My problem is I like to feel organised and on top of things.  I know everything will come together in the end, it always does.
One good thing is I know our whole trip is organised, that is the one thing I don't have to think about.

Now - where did I put those lists???

Still one month to go......

We are still one month away until our trip! Most of the planning has been done and we really are just counting down the days until we go. Still need to buy a few last minute items like socks, sunglasses, a hat, toiletries and a warm top, but otherwise we are all ready to go! Let's hope the next few weeks go fast and then our holiday goes nice & slow :)
